As an information storytelling studio, we work with executives and managers to engage stakeholders without oversimplifying or distorting information. Through visual languages and interactive creativeness, we support reliable systems and community-focused initiatives.

Founded by Alysha Anema, Illume sits at the intersection of strategy and storytelling. We are a collective of creative specialists, collaborating with domain experts as needed to reveal what matters and bring understanding to the forefront.

For every project, we bring together the right mix of thinkers and creators, strategists, developers, designers, animators, storytellers, illustrators, information and data specialist, so information has purpose, intention, and human understanding.

Alysha Anema

  • Alysha’s early drive to uncover truth and understand the world as it really is was shaped by her upbringing in South Africa, where she witnessed firsthand how inequality, bias, and missing context can distort reality. From a young age, she aspired to be a journalist, reporting from the front lines of foreign affairs to speak with honesty and integrity. Though her path shifted from journalism to communication design, with experience spanning branding, marketing, business, and procurement, that same journalistic instinct endured, evolving into a rare combination of analytical rigour, creativity, and respect for accuracy.

    In a world saturated with misinformation, shallow narratives, and attention-driven platforms that often prioritise engagement over truth, we exist to illuminate, not just inform.

Angela Salerno

  • Angela, originally from Argentina, specialises in visual design, illustration, and information storytelling. She uses her expertise to translate complex ideas and information into clear, engaging visuals, creating metaphors, legends, abstract concepts to visual communication that help audiences understand and connect with information on a deeper level.

    With two authored children’s books and illustrations in numerous others, Angela brings a distinctive visual voice to every project. Her past experience includes collaborating with leading brands such as Twitter, Waze, and Spotify at IMS Argentina, and her narrative-driven approach ensures even the most intricate information is communicated accurately, creatively, and memorably. Angela thrives on detail and embraces creative challenges, combining precision and imagination to transform information into stories that resonate and help make better informed decisions.

Working together helps provide transformation

We provide contributions to charities and non-profit organisations during the year.

One main charity we contribute to is Compassion Australia. The main purpose of Compassion Australia is to bring global transformation to Africa, Asia, and Central & South America. The contribution goes to clean water sources, sanitation, infrastructure, child rescue, health, education, and disaster relief. This started in 1952 with Everett Swanson who felt compelled to help 35 orphaned children in South Korea and since has grown.
